Well, I managed to crash my dirtbike this past sunday and wound up in the hospital. I ended up getting tossed over the bars and landed on my head. I picked the bike up and rode back to the truck but I couldnt turn my head straight, it was constantly pointed off left. As it turns out I pretty much ruined my neck and I am lucky to still have use of my entire body. I broke or fractured C2,C3,C4,C5 and C6- I also displaced C5 7.5 mm, it was actually pushing on my spinal chord. They did surgery on it sunday putting c5 back in place fused it to C6 by using a bone graft (and marrow) from my hip. Additionally they installed a plate and four screws. As of noon today (tuesday 11-9-10) I am out of the hospital already and back home. I am in a neck brace and have a follow up with the surgeon in a couple weeks. Looks like I will be in the brace for anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks.
I am quite lucky to have walked away from this one!! :)
